I had high hopes for this item. I thought blacking out some of the chrome on my Laramie was a great idea. The gloss black vinyl material they sent me was way to narrow for the grille. They are literally like 1/3 of an inch in width. They would only cover the front of the grille. I also had trouble with the material properly adhering to the chrome surface of the grille. I have used Luxe Auto products before and have never had any problems. This item on the other hand was not very good. I think the idea is great but the material needs to be better and be larger in width. I would not recommend this product.
This definitely did not work correctly. I've done several tailight kits and vinyl blackout kits but this one did not fit at all.
I was worried that these don't cover ALL the grill slat surface area, but only the front face. Well, that's enough apparently! They look great! I went with gloss black, and I'm loving how they darken up the front of my truck while complimenting the remaining crome grill surround and bumper.
Strips are very skinny, and doesn’t fully wrap grill slats. Only covers 5 horizontal slats, nothing for the perimeter or RAM lettering. (I should have read the description more closely).that being said, picture is very misleading. Good customer service and return policy from the company.
The installation was tedious, but not complicated at all. The install video in the product page was very helpful. The install took me about 45 minutes, but I was trying my best to make it look perfect (although it's not necessary). I did have a few challenges. Firstly, the strips are not cut perfectly to length, so I had to cut the ends as I was placing the end of the strip on the Grille. Secondly, due to the chrome grille, the glare/reflection made it really difficult to keep a consistently straight and even application. Again, it doesn't have to be perfect to get the same effect. So far I've put about 400 miles on the truck, mostly highway, and the product is still going strong. It completely changed the look of the front end of my truck, and I definitely recommend this product.
